Cristiano Ronaldo sanctioned for bad conduct – AS USA

Cristiano Ronaldo can’t seem to keep out of the headlines.
After the news that he has said goodbye to Manchester United for the second time, the Portuguese soccer star has now been fined almost $60,000 by the English Football Association (FA) and suspended for two matches for hitting an Everton supporter’s mobile phone to the ground last April.
The FA conducted an investigation into the incident and has punished him for what they found to be ‘inappropriate and/or violent’ conduct. The association also gave him a warning about his future behavior. The two-match ban will take effect should Ronaldo participate in English competition again by playing for another team in the Premier League.
The 37-year-old had smacked a young fan’s phone to the ground as he was leaving the pitch at Goodison Park in Everton. Ronaldo eventually apologized publicly for the incident with the young Toffee fan, accepted a police warning, and invited the boy to watch a game at Old Trafford “as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship”.

Police had concluded their probe into the matter in August, after interviewing the player in relation to charges of assault and criminal damage.
However, the incident was not closed. The FA launched its own investigation and eventually came up with the punishment for the star forward.
“An independent Regulatory Commission found that his conduct was both improper and violent during a subsequent hearing, and imposed these sanctions.”
The striker is currently concentrating on the Portuguese team before they play their first match in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar against Ghana.
